Procedure::
The BR1500MS2 is of the pure sine wave units of APC by Schneider Electric. Unboxing and installing this unit is easy and simple to perform.
This article is intended to show an end user on what to expect when unboxing and how simple this product is installed.
The following shows the box of this unit. Most of the packaging is made of recycled materials as APC by Schneider Electric tries to maintain its mission to build a green sustainable future.
After opening the box, the plug is the only thing that you would see on top of the protective layer above the product once the box has been opened
The protective carton in the box and paper sheets are meant to be enough to give acceptable protection for the product during transport.
You can also notice that the plug will have a plastic safety cap that you would need to remove before plugging the UPS to a wall outlet.
By the side of the UPS, you would also see the Literature Kit. This will contain warranty information, product information and manuals, and the communication cable (AP9827) you can use to natively connect to a computer or manage your UPS with PowerChute Serial Shutdown. Attached also in this FAQ is a guide to do native shutdown for Mac OS.
The plastic cover of the UPS can easily be opened from the back of the unit. It is advised to take out the UPS and set it on a flat, stable surface.
There will be adhesive tape holding the plastic in place at the back. Once these are removed, one can easily take out the thick plastic cover without having the challenge of tearing to open the inner packaging material.
The battery protected outlets will have a protective sticker on it. This is something that needs to be removed before use of the UPS.
There is a quality assurance slip that will contain various information on testing done before the product is released. This will also contain the model/SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number and the serial number of the unit. These 2 numbers will be found also at a white barcode sticker located normally beneath of the Back UPS.
You would also see a plastic protective film that is at the face of the UPS. It is your choice to keep or remove this however, there might be labelling on this at times that may contain added instructions before turning on that can obstruct the UPS screen.
The next step is to lay it on it's side with the battery compartment facing up. The compartment can be identified by 1 to 2 finger tabs beside the APC logo. You can press these down and slide the cover out. After doing this, the battery will then be exposed.
Lift the battery up and put it on a 45 degree angle to make it easy to connect the battery. After which, please locate the white capped red cable and connect it to the red terminal of the battery.
It is mandated by safety regulations by The Department of Transportation of the United States that internal batteries of Uninterruptible Power Supplies be removed before shipping.
Additionally, please refer to the video below or to FAQ FA373651 also to see additional battery installation instructions / details. We also recommend looking at the corresponding manual of the unit purchased that can be found either in the literature kit (with the package) or a digital copy that can be downloaded from the APC by Schneider Electric website.
