Why does StruxureWare DCE show duplicate sensors after upgrade, one of the duplicates reports unplugged.
Issue:
Duplicate sensors after upgrade, one of the duplicates reports unplugged.

Product Line:
StruxureWare Data Center Expert.

Environment:
StruxureWare Data Center Expert any version
DDF files for StruxureWare

Cause:
This is due to the updating of the DDFs used to scan devices. During the upgrade of StruxureWare, many DDF files are often updated. When you update a DDF on it's own, this issue may occur as well.

Changes to sensor IDs within the DDF are at times necessary in order to better integrate the sensor information with external systems such as StruxureWare Data Center Operation. The original sensor remains so that old data can still be pulled and graphed. The new sensor will be used to report on any new data going forward.

Resolution:

If you do not care about the old data and simply want to remove the unplugged / old sensors, a removal and rediscovery of the device is the quickest way to do this.

Another way to remove the unplugged sensors is to right click the device and view sensors. You can then right click the sensors and delete the sensor itself.

Please be aware that in either case, deleting the device (all data lost) or deleting the sensor itself (old sensor specific data) will cause the loss of data.
