Matrix-UPS emits a chirping sound after being on-battery or running a self-test
Issue
Matrix-UPS emits a chip after a self-test has completed or the UPS has been on battery due to an input power problem.
Product Line
Matrix-UPS
Environment
All serial ranges
Cause
If a SmartCell battery pack fails a UPS On-Battery Self-test (either scheduled or through UPS start-up), the Matrix-UPS will emit chirps for an interval of one minute to warn of a Replace Battery condition. The Matrix-UPS will emit the chirping sound once every five hours and will continue this chirp cycle until completion of a successful On-Battery Self-test.
Resolution
If the SmartCell replace battery light LED is illuminated (located on the front of the battery pack), it is likely that the battery requires replacement. The SmartCell batteries have two primary components; the battery and the built-in communication module. If the Replace Battery LED is on, it does not necessarily mean that there is no battery backup at that moment. The battery may be older, but still capable of holding the load, or the communication component is malfunctioning. In either case, a replacement should be done as soon as possible.
In the case that there is no indication of fault on the front LCD display panel, yet chirping is heard, contact Schneider Electric technical support.
