How to troubleshoot a Rack Inlet High Temp Alarm

Article available in these languages: Spanish

Issue:

Rack inlet high alarm

Product line:

Inrow

Environment:

Data Center Inrow

Cause:

Temp threshold is to low, sensor is misplaced, sensor is defective

Resolution:

Check the sensor threshold, check placement of sensor. Threshold should be at least 5 degrees above max normal temp to avoid nuisance alarms. The sensor should be placed in the front of the server rack at least 6 inches from front of the server.  Ensure blanking panels are in place and ensure any gaps in the rack are addressed. Check the sensor reading to ensure it is within tolerance and not reading Err. Which could mean moisture has infiltrated the sensor, the connection is compromised or with sensor wire may be pinched.
