Protective functions of APC Mobile Power Pack.
The APC Mobile Power Pack has multiple Hardware and Firmware features to protect itself from external damage.
APC Mobile Power Packs
M5BK and M10BK
Environment:
N/A
Cause / Resolution:
Over charging protection: When the battery is full, the Mobile Power Pack will turn off the charging circuit to avoid damaging itself.
Over loading protection: The Mobile Power Pack is capable of providing a maximum of 2.4A for charging. It will protect itself automatically against device overheat, damage or fire by ceasing to provide the full 2.4A through one USB charging port, when a second device is connected.
Over current protection: Similar to the Over loading protection, if excess current is being drawn from the device the Mobile Power Pack will cut off all output to avoid product damage, as well as for the User’s safety.
Over discharging protection: The Mobile Power Pack has a discharge limiter to avoid damaging the device and to prolong the battery life.
Short circuit protection: In an instance when the Mobile Power Pack may be shorted by an external device or by an electrical conductor’s generated current pulse, the Mobile Power Pack will promptly cut output power to avoid damage, fire and to protect the User’s safety.
Steady voltage function: The Mobile Power Pack is capable of providing a stable voltage to the attached load through intelligent voltage adjustment. This is to avoid load damage from varied voltages resulting from load fluctuations or battery voltage changes.
Leakage current protection: When the User stops using the battery or stores the battery for an extended period, the Mobile Power Pack will automatically place itself into Standby Mode, which will avoid battery power loss. This results in a conservatively approximated shelf life of 6-8yrs.
Over temperature protection: The Mobile Power Pack continuously monitors the internal temperature to avoid overheating. Once battery temperature is out of operational range (-5C~60C), the Mobile Power Pack will turn off the charging circuit to protect battery life and the User’s safety.
