Issue:
need to set the PowerChute Network Shutdown Username, Password, and Authentication Phrase.
Product:
PowerChute Network Shutdown version 4.4.x and 5.x
Environment:
All supported OS
Cause:
Informational
Solution:
The Username is used to log into the PowerChute web UI and for login to the associated Network Management Card. The Authentication Phrase is used to authenticate communications between PowerChute and the Network Management Card (NMC). Therefore, you must set these values to be the same in both.
See Schneider Electric FAQ000266909 for assistance with setting the PowerChute Parameters on the Network Management Card.
• The maximum number of characters for the username is 10.
• The authentication phrase must be 15 to 32 ASCII characters.
• The password specified here is unique to PowerChute. The password requires:
• Minimum 8 and maximum 128 characters in length See NOTE below.
• One upper- and lower-case letter
• One number and special character
• The username cannot be part of the password.
• Passwords with leading and trailing white spaces are removed.
• Passwords containing a white space are kept.
NOTE: "The maximum allowed character limit for the password is 128, as documented in all our user documents. However, currently, PowerChute only allows 32 characters. During password setting/resetting, PowerChute will validate and allow setting a 128-character password. No errors will be displayed as part of the validation. However, users cannot log in with a password greater than 32 characters."
Changes to the Username, Password and Authentication Phrase are logged to the PowerChute event log.
If you forget your PowerChute username or password, see Schneider Electric FAQ Video: How to reset the PowerChute Network Shutdown web UI password, username, and authentication phrase.
If PowerChute is registered with more than one NMC, they should all use the same username and authentication phrase.
