Issue:
It's crucial to upgrade the version of PowerChute Network Shutdown installed on the PowerChute virtual appliance. This will ensure you have the latest features and security updates.
Product Line:
PowerChute Network Shutdown
Environment:
PowerChute Network Shutdown VM
Cause:
A newer version of PowerChute Network Shutdown is available.
Solution:
To run an updated version of PowerChute, power off the current PowerChute VM and install the latest version of the PowerChute Virtual Appliance. The latest version will contain updated security and an updated version of Linux. We do not support upgrading the version of PowerChute running on the PowerChute VM.
NOTE: If your PowerChute VM has an assigned license, the license must be released/returned before powering off the VM and installing the new VM. See Schneider Electric FAQ000259017 How to reuse-return a PowerChute Network Shutdown license?
Before installing the new Virtual Appliance, it is important to save the PowerChute configuration from the older version. To do this, log in to the current PowerChute Virtual Appliance and navigate to /opt/APC/PowerChute/group1. From there, save a copy of the pcnsconfig.ini file. Once the new Virtual Appliance is installed, you can transfer the saved pcnsconfig.ini file to the new Virtual Appliance. This will ensure that PowerChute uses the same configuration as before.
