Can the AR7708 Hot Air Recirculation Prevention Kit be used in a NetShelter SX Networking cabinet?
Issue:
It's important to seal off any areas where hot air may recirculate to the front of the cabinet.
Product Line:
NetShelter SX Networking
Environment:
All versions and serial ranges.
Cause:
The rail design of the NetShelter SX Networking cabinets does not appear to be compatible with the AR7708. They are completely cutout because they are designed to support the high airflow requirements of Cisco's large switches with side-to-side airflow.
Resolution:
Yes, part of the AR7708 can be used in the Networking cabinet. The airflow restriction strips can be used on the left front rail.
The AR7708 Hot Air Recirculation Prevention Kit is designed for use with the standard NetShelter SX cabinets, not the Networking cabinets. The kit includes several cable routing covers and airflow restriction strips. In the NetShelter SX Networking cabinets there are no openings for the cable routing covers so those parts are unnecessary. The front right hand rail uses foam blocks to seal the part of the rail not covered by an airflow duct. The only part of the kit that can be used in the Networking cabinet is the airflow restriction strips, on the left hand front rail.
